Up: Marcus Rashford
Despite scoring twice on his Europa League debut against Midtylland on Thursday, 18-year-old Marcus Rashford would have been forgiven for having a quiet game on his Premier League bow against title favourites Arsenal. Not a chance.
With a makeshift team from back to front, Rashford led the line superbly, holding up the ball, distributing well, and, most importantly, finding the back of the net with two excellent finishes. An instinctive smash as the ball fell to him in the area, and a bullet header show the range with which the youngster can find the net.
Time will tell how good Rashford can become, but for now, at least, we should appreciate that he is a very talented individual with plenty of potential. One to watch.
Up: Leonardo Ulloa
Most of the praise for Leicester City’s improbably title challenge has been lauded on the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and, more recently, N’Golo Kante, but should they win the title in May they may look back on a moment from one of the squad’s fringe players as the most vital.
After their late defeat at Arsenal last time out, Leicester needed to bounce back quickly in order to sustain their lead at the top of the table, and for 88 minutes, it appeared as if they were toiling to a rather unhelpful goalless draw against Norwich City.
That was until Leo Ulloa, the Foxes’ Patagonian target man slid in to tap Mark Albrighton’s cross and seal the points for Leicester, preserving their position at the top of the division in the process. It could turn out to be a massive goal.
Up: Danny Rose
Much like Ulloa, Danny Rose represented an unlikely hero for Tottenham Hotspur when he struck a late winner against Swansea City. Much like Leicester, his late strike could be seen as a huge goal come the end of the season if Spurs manage to usurp the Foxes before the end of the season.
After falling behind to the struggling Swans, Spurs definitely needed a win to try and close the five point gap that Leicester had opened up just a day before. After Nacer Chadli had equalised, Rose stepped up to rifle home a strike from the edge of the area that Lukas Fabianski was powerless to prevent.
It was hard to imagine Rose ever scoring a more important goal than his North London derby winner a few seasons ago, but if Spurs go on to win the league, this one may just become a little bit more special.
