Jay Rodriguez was on the cusp of the England World Cup squad when his knee ligaments gave up on him in the Spring of 2014, and getting back to full fitness has proved to be a huge struggle for the Southampton forward.

But with Charlie Austin injured and Shane Long out of form, Claude Puel turned to Rodriguez to help the Saints win at nearby Bournemouth, and his faith was repaid with two goals, including a brilliant dipping volley to make the points safe.

If Rodriguez can play this well every week, Southampton may not need to buy a new striker.
