Down: Stoke City
Oh dear, oh dear, what has happened to Stoke City? Mark Hughes may not be Tony Pulis, but this was a club that built it’s Premier League reputation on frugal defending, but this season seem to be weak and porous.
Stoke’s 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace was the second game in a row that they have conceded four goals, and the third in five games this season. Not only that, the Potters have conceded 50 goals in 2016, eight more than any other Premier League side.
With just one point and 14 goals conceded from five games, things don’t look too great for Stoke. This slump needs to be arrested – and fast. Of course, we are only at an early stage in 2016/17, but their squad is too good – on paper at least – for their current league position, so they really should be fighting around mid-table of the top flight, if not slightly higher.
