Up: Yannick Bolasie

Bolasie may have cost Everton a small fortune this summer, but the early signs are that he is a very good fit for the club, and his performance in the win over Middlesbrough was, once again, excellent.

He may have had a goal dubiously awarded to Romelu Lukaku, but Bolasie’s direct running and crossing caused the Middlesbrough defenders a serious amount of problems in a first half where they were run ragged. We have always been aware of his searing speed and dribbling ability, but consistency was the main concern. If the first few weeks are anything to go by, his time on Merseyside could help dispel that particular opinion.

£25 million did look like far too much money for Bolasie, but he is already showing his worth to Everton, and he is fitting into Ronald Koeman’s system like a glove. Everton are finally fulfilling their potential, and the ex-Palace man is proving to be a massive part of that.
