Someone will need a remarkable last nine games of the season to deny this guy the Player of the Year Award.
Mahrez’s excellent finish that secured Leicester’s 1-0 win over Watford was the 26th he has been involved in this season, scoring 15. It appears that every time a question is asked of Leicester and their stunning title push, the Algerian magician has the answers.

What a player, what a team and what a story. With so little of the season remaining, it is looking increasingly likely that they will lift their first ever top division title in May.

Up: Christian Benteke

When you haven’t scored a goal for over two months, didn’t play in you team’s recent cup final disappointment and have become a bit of a laughing stock for the rest of the league, it takes a lot of balls to be able to stand up and take a 96th minute penalty. Christian Benteke did just that.

It has not been an enjoyable few weeks for the £32 million striker, but he showed remarkable coolness to slot away the penalty that he had debatably won at the end of the game. Maybe this will be the spark he needs to get his Liverpool career going again.

Up: Slaven Bilic

When West Ham announced the appointment of Slaven Bilic in the summer, some thought that it was a slightly risky move. Less than a year on, that has been completely disproved and the Croatian manager has become the toast of East London.

It is not just that Bilic has put West Ham on the brink of the Champions League places, but it is the style that he is doing it. Against Everton, 2-0 down, Bilic made sure his team kept on attacking, pumping balls into the box and eventually completing a stunning 3-2 win.

With an FA Cup quarter final against Manchester United coming up as well, this could be a special season for Bilic.
