Down: Aston Villa

In a season where disastrous results have become routine, it would take a spectacularly poor week to stand out in Villa’s nightmare campaign, but the last seven days have been even worse than normal for the Midlands club.

Not only did they lose manager Remi Garde in midweek, but they returned to Premier League action with an atrocious 4-0 defeat to a Chelsea side playing for nothing. There was no intensity, no passion and they were lucky to only concede four. The fans were rightly on the backs of the players and the board who have completely let them down this season.

Villa’s relegation could be confirmed next weekend, and if they are not careful, there may be more dire results ahead after the season comes to a close. Their next managerial appointment is crucial, otherwise they could tumble down the divisions.
