As the weeks tick by, Leicester City’s scarcely believable title charge looks more and more likely to survive the course. Even the international break failed to rob Claudio Ranieri’s side of their momentum, and a fourth successive 1-0 win, coupled with Tottenham’s failure to secure victory at Anfield left the Foxes seven points clear with just six games to go. Four wins will do it for Leicester.
There was another huge game at the bottom of the table, with Norwich moving further away from the drop thanks to Martin Olsson’s late winner in a brilliant, topsy-turvy tie against Newcastle. Norwich’s win moved them six points clear of the Toon, and four points ahead of Sunderland, denied by Ben Foster’s magnificent goalkeeping at the Stadium of Light. The Tyne-Wear derby looks increasingly like it will become the property of the Championship next season.
As for the race for Europe, Manchester City steadied the ship with a huge win at Bournemouth, although Manchester United kept up the pace with a win over Everton. West Ham, however, dropped the ball with a disappointing draw against Crystal Palace, despite another jaw-dropping free kick from Dmitri Payet.
After another pivotal weekend, let’s see who has made this week’s 3 Up 3 Down?
