It has been well documented that Chelsea haven’t been very good this season,  but since the sacking of Jose Mourinho, they are unbeaten in four, and looked back to somewhere near their best in a fabulous 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.

With the players back onside, interim manager Guus Hiddink deserves plenty of praise for today’s turnaround in performance. He set his Chelsea side up perfectly to face Pardew’s Palace; sitting deep, being patient without the ball, before allowing the likes of Oscar, Willian and Diego Costa to break with devastating efficiency at the other end. It really was a great performance.

Can Chelsea now push on for Europe? It’s still unlikely with a meagre total of 23 points, but if they continue to dismantle top half sides in this manner, they may just close the gap.
