Up: Andy Carroll
Another player who experienced a great deal of personal redemption this week was Andy Carroll, although for very different reasons to the aforementioned Artur Boruc.
Carroll, making his 12th Premier League appearance of the season, started up front against his former club Liverpool, where he infamously failed to live up to his £35 million price tag. Instead of showing the sort of poor performance that Reds fans grew used to during Carroll’s disappointing Anfield spell, the big Geordie stepped up to bully the defence of his former employers, putting in the classic number 9 performance.
A bullet header that sealed a comfortable victory was the icing on the cake for Carroll, who now has two in his last two games. Can he keep this run of form going for the high flying hammers.
