After the traditional festive frenzy of football in the days immediately after Christmas, the Premier League ushered in 2016 with a weekend full of talking points.
Although some players looked a little leggy after such a tiring run of games, there were still some star performances from the likes of West Ham’s Andy Carroll, Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe and Tottenham’s Dele Alli.
Manchester United got back to winning ways over Swansea, their near neighbours City struck late to defeat Watford, whilst league leaders Arsenal laboured to an important win over struggling Newcastle United.
