Up: Eden Hazard
It was no secret how poor Eden Hazard was last season, but there can be no doubting that he is back, and possibly even better than he was in 2014/15.
Along with Diego Costa and the excellent Pedro, Hazard tore a sorry Everton to shreds in one of the most breathtaking individual performances that the Premier League has possibly ever seen.
It wasn’t just the two goals, which meant he scored in four consecutive Premier League games for the first time, but it was the interplay, the touches, the sheer audacity to his play. Truly breathtaking.
Up: Philippe Coutinho
It seemed impossible that anyone would be able to get anywhere near Hazard or Chelsea’s performance this weekend, but up stepped Liverpool and Philippe Coutinho, who thrashed Watford 6-1 at Anfield.
Coutinho was spellbinding in his performance. His cross for Sadio Mane’s headed opener was inch perfect, his finish for Liverpool’s second was phenomenal and his play was sublime throughout the game.
If Liverpool are to challenge for the league title, this guy is going to play a massive part in it.
Up: Jordan Pickford
Sunderland finally won their first game of the season at the 11th attempt with a hard fought win at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, and they owe a lot of that to the brilliance of their young goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Bournemouth piled on the pressure throughout the game, in which they took an early lead, but the Sunderland keeper held firm throughout, making a string of stunning saves that allowed his team the chance to snatch a much needed victory.
A full England call up may not be too far away.
