Down: Eden Hazard
Chelsea deserve a mention in this week’s 3 up, 3 down thanks to the way they completely dismantled Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge. For one of the first times this season, they actually resembled champions and are still unbeaten under interim coach Guus Hiddink.
However, with no room in the up column, their only feature goes to troubled winger Eden Hazard. The Belgian did not have too bad a game against the Magpies, although Willian and Pedro were the main creative forces, but he earns his place in the down category thanks to an awful touch when through on goal late in the game.
Chelsea were 4-0 up at the time, so it was academic, but in an attempt to take the ball past goalkeeper Rob Elliot, Hazard managed to somehow tackle himself and watch the ball squirm behind for a goal kick when it looked easier to score. It summed up a wretched season perfectly.
