Another England striker named Daniel made a return to the Premier League on Sunday, with a similarly positive impact.

Liverpool striker Sturridge was available for his first start since October, and within 15 minutes he had already shown exactly what the Reds had been lacking all season with an expertly finished header. It was the start of a riot for the Anfield side, who devastatingly ran in six against the Premier League’s bottom side, lifting them back into the top half and finally turning their goal difference back to positive.

With the returns of Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi coming at the same time, Liverpool suddenly look like they have a threatening attack again. Now just three points off fifth placed Manchester United and with a fit Sturridge, Klopp’s men could still salvage a respectable finish from a pretty torrid season.
