Up: Danny Welbeck
When you haven’t played football for ten months, you wouldn’t mind a nice, sedate, comfortable game to ease yourself back into the action. Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck was afforded no such luxury, and after watching his side toil against a dogged Leicester City for 80 minutes, he was thrown on to try and rescue a win for the Gunners.
Thankfully for Arsenal fans, who had spent much of the afternoon staring down the barrel of an eight point gap to Leicester after Jamie Vardy had put the visitors ahead, Welbeck was able to make one telling contribution in his short time on the field; a magnificent flicked header in the 95th minute to win the game.
It was not an easy game for the North London side, but their win puts them within two points of their defeated opponents. Just how important will Welbecks’s goal be at the end of the season if Arsenal go on to lift the title?
