3 players who deserve Arsenal chance after international break

Arsenal have endured an inconsistent start to the 2020/21 campaign and losing three of their last four Premier League games leaves Mikel Arteta with more questions than answers.

A major highlight came with a 1-0 win over Manchester United but the Gunners followed that up with a shocking performance in a 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

Winning four and losing four of their opening eight contests is probably deemed as a below-par start to the campaign for Arsenal.

As a result, Arteta might look to make some changes after the international break, with his squad boasting plenty of options.

Here at TBR, we looked at three players who deserve a chance to stake their claim for a place in the Arsenal team after the break.

Joe Willock

The 21-year-old has been in fine form during the club’s Europa League campaign, playing every game and helping the Gunners to three victories.

Willock has scored twice and registered two assists in European football but bizarrely isn’t getting a look in during the Premier League games.

The England under-21 international hasn’t played a single minute in the league and it’s time for Arteta to bring him in from the cold.

Arsenal were desperately short of ideas in recent defeats to Leicester City and Aston Villa and with that in mind, Willock deserves a chance to shine on the domestic front.

Nicolas Pepe

Another man who some feel has been badly underused by Arteta is the club’s record signing.

Pepe has started just once in the league, making a further six appearances from the bench.

In Europe, like Willock, the Ivorian has two goals and two assists to his name but he deserves a chance to shine in the league.

The £100,000-a-week star is quick, can take players on and was starting to show during the second half of last season exactly what he was capable of.

Pepe cost a fortune and it’s time for the Arsenal boss to start letting him prove his worth to the team.

Pablo Mari

The fact that the centre-back hasn’t been used yet this season isn’t Arteta’s fault.

Mari has been out with an ankle injury but has soon as he is fit he deserves the chance to reclaim his place in the team.

The 27-year-old arrived in January from Flamengo and looked assured in the three games he played for the Gunners.

Arsenal’s defending during the recent game against Aston Villa was nothing short of embarrassing.

With that in mind, a reshuffle might be necessary and utilising Mari would be ideal for the Gunners.
