Tottenham Hotspur’s academy has produced top players over the years, and there are some talented youngsters in the ranks right now who should be given the opportunity to develop further, away from Spurs.

There are a few players out on loan already who could potentially go out again next season – Troy Parrott or TJ Eyoma, for example – while some, like Oliver Skipp, could very well get a chance in the first team.

Here are some who are currently still at Tottenham, but who could benefit from a loan move away in 2021-22.

Brooklyn Lyons-Foster

The 20-year-old is a versatile young defender, able to play in either central role, at right-back and in defensive midfield.

He is brilliant with the ball, reads the game well and is calm under pressure – at just 16, he impressed against Ademola Lookman in a Premier League 2 meeting with Everton’s U23s, prompting Wayne Burnett to praise him.

Lyons-Foster has captained Tottenham’s Under-23s on a number of occasions this season and, while a first-team spot may not be within reach just yet, a loan move would see him gain crucial senior experience.

Jamie Bowden

The 19-year-old is a deep-lying central midfielder with a great range of passing who has impressed for the Under-23s in recent seasons and was

He has been watched closely by both Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho, the latter naming him in the Spurs matchday squad in the Europa League last-32 first leg against Wolfsberger.

Bowden, the Spurs Under-23s vice-captain, has sadly had some injury problems over the past few seasons but certainly looks a cut above, so a loan move seems like the next step.

Kion Etete

The 19-year-old only joined Spurs in 2019, linking up with the North Londoners’ academy from non-league Notts County, but he’s been making waves at Under-23s level.

In just 18 Premier League 2 games, Etete has scored eight goals and registered two assists, so surely it won’t be long before he makes a step up.

As with Lyons-Foster and Bowden, he could do with more senior experience before being considered for the first team, but there will surely be plenty of Football League sides eager to take on the 6ft 4in marksman.
