Liverpool have endured a difficult season amid injuries, but there has been one positive in the form of several Reds academy graduates stepping up and giving great accounts of themselves.
There are plenty of great players in the youth ranks, and for some, the next step should be going out on loan before returning to Anfield with more experience and improved skills.
Here are three Liverpool rising stars who have been impressing at age level but could do with some experience before being considered for the first team.
Billy Koumetio
The 6ft 4in centre-back only turned 18 in November but he’s already made his senior debut, playing 45 minutes in the Champions League against Midtjylland in December.

Koumetio, who has been described by Klopp as a “big talent”, has also featured for the Under-23s this term, stepping up from the Under-18s, which shows he’s progressing really well.
He definitely looks as though he could step up from the U23s next term but, with first-team competition likely to be fierce at centre-back, a loan to an EFL side should be considered.
Leighton Clarkson
The 19-year-old is a versatile midfielder with a great range of passing and excellent delivery from set-pieces.
Clarkson has already made three senior appearances for Liverpool, starting for the Reds in their 1-1 draw with Midtjylland in the Champions League.
According to The Athletic, Jurgen Klopp has compared Clarkson to Philipp Lahm – quite a badge of honour.

Jake Cain
A creative left-footed midfielder with an eye for goal, Cain is established in the Under-23s group and Liverpool’s UEFA Youth League squad.
The 19-year-old has one senior Reds appearance under his belt, against Shrewsbury last year, and has made a number of Premier League and Champions League matchday squads.
According to the Liverpool Echo, regular observers say Cain’s running power and is something to behold and early comparisons to Jordan Henderson have been made.
