Arsenal are one of a number of clubs in years gone by to make good use of the market by making some of the best loan signings we’ve seen.

The Gunners have, over the years, utilised the market and managed to bring in a number of good players who have helped them to succeed in one way or another.

It proves, then, that it’s not always about making big-money signings if you want to be successful as a football club.

Arsenal currently have Spanish midfielder, Dani Ceballos on a similar deal. The 23-year-old’s form has been indifferent, to say the least.

So, who which loan signings have been inspired moves by Arsenal over the years? Here’s THREE of the best.

Julio Baptista

The powerful Brazilian forward joined the Gunners in 2005 on a loan deal from Real Madrid.

Despite struggling for goals in the Premier League, Baptista did offer Arsenal something in the cup competitions.

Indeed, he scored four times against Liverpool in a 6-3 win and went on to help the Gunners to the final of the League Cup. Chelsea ran out winners that day but Baptista can still count his spell with the club as more of a success than failure.

Yossi Benayoun

The Israeli star was a success for the Gunners thanks, in part, to his crucial late-season goals that ensured Champions League qualification.

Furthermore, it was achieved at the expense of bitter rivals, Spurs.

Benayoun enjoyed a mixed career in the Premier League but his spell with Arsenal is one he will regard as a success.

Thierry Henry

It’s impossible to compile a list like this without including the Gunners legend in there.

Henry returned to the club in 2012 on a short-term loan deal. He made only a handful of appearances during this time but scored a crucial and memorable goal in the process.

Making his second debut with the club, Henry powered in a winning goal as the Gunners saw off Leeds United in the FA Cup. It was a memorable moment for the French star.

His only other goal came in a Premier League win against Sunderland as Henry finally bowed out from English football.
