Just last week, Joe Dodoo was a name that most Rangers fans had forgotten.

Dodoo had been sent out on loan to Blackpool, tasked with turning Steven Gerrard’s head by scoring plenty of goals.

But after scoring just once in nine games and finding himself out of favour at Blackpool, his future looked bleak.

However, the 23-year-old was given his opportunity in the domestic cups and he has grasped it with both hands.

After scoring three goals in his last two games, has Dodoo earned himself a lifeline that could save his Rangers career?

And the former Leicester City man wasted no time getting on the score sheet as he headed home after three minutes.

Dodoo followed that up with two goals in the EFL Trophy against Accrington Stanley.

Having scored three goals in two cup games for Blackpool, surely Dodoo has forced himself back into contention for a starting spot in the league.

This could be his chance to prove himself in League One by grabbing lots of goals and forcing Gerrard to take notice of him.

There is still a lot of work to do, but Dodoo has given himself a platform to succeed as he looks to rescue his Rangers career.
