Newcastle United are yet to sign anybody yet this summer as takeover talks and the future of Rafa Benitez take centre stage.
The Magpies have a lot going on and buying players seems to be something further down the pecking order at the moment.
It would appear that the proposed takeover by the Bin Zayed Group has delayed the resolution over the Spaniard’s future.
Fans will hope everything gets sorted out soon, as there are quality players out there waiting to be signed.
One such quality player is Daniel Sturridge, who is officially leaving Liverpool with his contract expiring.
The 29-year-old will be a free agent, and Newcastle surely have to take a look into the situation.
Sturridge is approaching 30 which wouldn’t sit well with current owner Mike Ashley, but the fact that he won’t cost any transfer fee surely must appeal.
The former Manchester City and Chelsea ace scored 67 goals in 160 games for the club, and was particularly destructive for the Reds alongside Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling in the 2013/14 season.
Klopp has stated he is ‘one of the best finishers I’ve ever seen in my life’ (The Liverpool Echo), and such praise surely must make Newcastle take note.
Newcastle are facing strong competition to sign Salomon Rondon this summer, but freebie Sturridge would be a superb alternative.
