Alexandre Lacazette has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Barcelona this summer.

The Catalan giants have added the Frenchman to their radar along with his compatriot Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid, according to The Express.

Lacazette has been in great form for the Gunners this term, scoring 18 goals in all competitions so far.

The striker recently scooped the club’s Player of the Year award for his contributions, and fans adore his combination of finishing and technical qualities.

Barca striker Luis Suarez is 32 now and it is understandablefor them to perhaps be thinking about life after the prolific Uruguayan, but Arsenal simply cannot lose Lacazette this summer.

TBR’s view

Quite simply, Lacazette would be Arsenal’s worst possible sale this summer.

The former Lyon ace took some time to get going in English football, but has this season justified the £46.5 million that was spent on his transfer (which could reach £52.6 million – BBC Sport) in 2017.

Lacazette has proven he is not just a goalscorer, but a brilliant all-round striker.

He can drop deep and run the channels, and also hold the ball for teammates join the attack.

Arguably, losing Lacazette this summer would sting more than if Mesut Ozil left, with the inconsistent German raking in £350,000 every week at the Emirates.

Him leaving would theoretically free up a lot of money for Emery to use for transfers this summer, but he will not be leaving after he recently reaffirmed his commitment to the club (Sky Sports).
