Footage on Hayters TV shows Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal was punished in-front of the whole squad during training today.

Royal has become a regular under Antonio Conte after making the switch from Barcelona for £25.7 million last summer (Sky Sports).

The Brazilian was being put through his paces alongside the entire Spurs squad ahead of their clash against Sporting Lisbon tomorrow. A win tomorrow night would secure Tottenham’s place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

And the Spurs squad were involved in some light training exercises at Hotspur Way today. But Royal found himself on the receiving end of some punishment after losing a passing exercise.

In a video on Hayters TV, the Spurs squad were involved in a passing drill and Royal failed to win the ball back from his teammates.

The 23-year-old was then punished by Spurs coaches with push-ups. It wasn’t exactly a gruelling session though and he was only forced to do three in total.

Royal returned to the Tottenham side in the Premier League for their 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday.

The full-back had been serving a three-game suspension after being sent-off against Arsenal earlier this month.

Spurs will be determined to bounce back tomorrow night after consecutive defeats in the Premier League.

A win against Sporting guarantees them a place in the last-16 of the Champions League, which would be a much-needed boost for Conte’s side.

Last time out against Ruben Amorim’s men, Spurs fell to a 2-0 defeat in Portugal as they were undone by two late goals.

Conte will be hoping for a much-improved performance tomorrow night with the home advantage.
