Liverpool’s summer transfer window has been and gone and in all fairness, it was a lot quieter than most Reds fans anticipated.
Liverpool tried and failed in a bid to sign Martin Zubimendi and in the end, had to make do with just a couple of new signings.
The capture of Federico Chiesa close to deadline day caught many by surprise, while the signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili should prove a shrewd long-term investment.
Of course, the window always has an impact on those in and around the current squad and at Liverpool, it’s no different.
With that in mind, we’ve taken look at two of the biggest winners and losers from Liverpool’s summer window in 2024.
Winner One – Ryan Gravenberch
With Liverpool missing out on signing Zubimendi, it means Arne Slot has put his faith in a player already in the squad and so far, that man looks like being Ryan Gravenberch.
Jamie Redknapp has already praised Gravenberch for his role in midfield and he once again played a big role against Man United this weekend.
For Gravenberch, Slot’s appointment and the lack of a new number six has given him a real opportunity to stake a big claim.
So far, he’s doing just that and the summer window has played into the Dutchman’s hands really.

Loser One – Caoimhin Kelleher
Liverpool rejected a late bid from Nottingham Forest for Kelleher but on the whole, the summer window did nothing for the goalkeeper.
£25m-rated Kelleher now finds himself behind Alisson once again and knowing that come next season, the arrival of Mamardashvili means he’s going to have find a new home.
The Irish number one is obviously a goalkeeper who is good enough for the Premier League but he’ll know now that his future isn’t at Anfield.
Whether he looks to move in January, remains to be seen.

Winner Two – Ibou Konate
Liverpool were said to be looking at a new centre-back all summer but in the end, they stuck with their current crop.
With Joe Gomez linked with a move away and Jarrell Quansah struggling in the opening match of the season, that’s left Ibou Konate as the man partnering Virgil van Dijk.
Konate will be feeling lucky that no new centre-half came in as he was under a touch of pressure himself thanks to injuries last season.
The Frenchman, then, now has a real chance to show Arne Slot he is the man for the future in the heart of Liverpool’s back line.

Loser Two – Darwin Nunez
Clearly, Arne Slot is going to go with Diogo Jota as his main striker this season which already means Nunez is playing second fiddle.
But even more concerning for Nunez will have been the addition of Federico Chiesa late in the window.
That, put simply, means there is another player to fight it out with for those three attacking slots.
With Mo Salah not getting dropped, Luis Diaz a favourite, and Jota starting, it means Nunez now faces a battle with Cody Gakpo, Harvey Elliott, and Chiesa just to get some minutes.
Nunez will know he needs a big season when he does get a chance to play but there feels an air inevitability about his future right now.
