£259m player ‘really, really likes’ Liverpool amid claims Jurgen Klopp wants to sign him

French journalist Julien Laurens has claimed that PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe ‘really, really likes’ Liverpool.

The World Cup winner has constantly been in the news as his future is up in the air. He has entered the final six months of his contract, but it’s still unclear if he will stay in Paris or leave. Along with Real Madrid, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign him.

Kylian Mbappe ‘really, really likes’ Liverpool

Kylian Mbappe is arguably the best player in the world now.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward has won almost everything even though he is still only 25. He is capable of playing for any club in the world, and it’s no surprise that Real Madrid have wanted to sign him for a long, long time.

Even though there’s nothing really going on right now, many see Carlo Ancelotti‘s side as the favourites to sign Mbappe when his contract expires in the summer.

However, Paul Gorst recently claimed on The Anfield Wrap that Liverpool are privately discussing signing the French superstar, and Julien Laurens has some exciting news now.

The journalist has claimed that even though it’s ‘less likely’ he will end up at Liverpool. Mbappe is a big fan of the club. It is, however, more likely that he will join Real Madrid if he leaves PSG this summer.

Laurens said on BBC 5 Live Sport: “I really believe him when he says he hasn’t decided yet if he wants to stay a little bit longer or go somewhere else as a free agent in the summer, whether that’s Real Madrid – very likely – [or] Liverpool – less likely, but that’s another team that he really, really likes.

“Even if he leaves as a free agent, so with no transfer fee for PSG to receive, the agreement that he has with the club protects PSG and preserves the interest of the club.

“The bonus that PSG were supposed to pay him at the end of this season, whether he was leaving or not, is not going to be paid. He’s going to waive that off, we’re talking about €70-80 million.”

PSG had accepted a world-record transfer fee of £259 million for Mbappe from Saudi side Al-Hilal in the summer (Goal). Soon, they could lose him for nothing, which should hurt, even if he waives off the bonus that he is owed.

Liverpool signing Mbappe is extremely unlikely

Every Liverpool fan would love to see their side sign Kylian Mbappe, won’t they?

The Frenchman will improve any team he goes to, and under a world-class manager like Jurgen Klopp, he could become even better than he already is.

However, Mbappe’s salary demands will be crazy, especially as he would be coming in as a free agent. It’s extremely unlikely that Liverpool would be willing to match what he’s currently earning at PSG, let alone better it.

Real Madrid are still the favourites to sign Mbappe in the summer, and we don’t expect that to change in the coming weeks.
