Club America and Mexico right-back Jorge Sanchez has told Aguilas Monumental that he is dreaming of a move to European football. Tottenham and Everton are once again suggested as options for Sanchez who helped Mexico win the Bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Sanchez, 23, has been excellent under ex-Real Madrid gaffer Santiago Salari at Club America. Joining the club from Santos Laguna, he has since played 112 times for Club America – becoming one of the first names on the team sheet. A 15-time Mexico international, he is first choice for his country, too.

Speaking to Aguilas Monumental, Sanchez states that while he has not heard anything from his agent – he dreams of moving to Europe. The report in which Sanchez is quoted states both Tottenham and Everton want to sign the right-back. Both could do with a new right-sided defender this summer.

“They have not told me anything, my representative is the one who knows. I am focused on my thing, I come to do things well,” Sanchez told Aguilas Monumental, when asked about his future. Of course it is my dream to go to Europe, but I am focusing on America.”

Tottenham and Everton need a right-back, Sanchez makes sense

Looking at both squads, both could do with additions on the right side of the defence. At Everton, Seamus Coleman remains first choice but he is 32 and is certainly slowing down. Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate are centre-backs, while Jonjoe Kenny is probably surplus to requirements.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have better options on the right side of the defence. But Matt Doherty was poor in his first season and Serge Aurier is in the final year of his contract at Tottenham. Japhet Tanganga can play there, but he is naturally a centre-back. Both need a right-back, but Everton more so.
