£22m Tottenham attacker will likely leave at the end of the season

This has been the season of second-chances at Tottenham Hotspur.

The likes of Yves Bissouma and Giovani Lo Celso have been able to reinvent and rediscover themselves under Ange Postecoglou in recent months, and it’s fair to say that the Australian is open to giving unfancied players chances to earn their stripes.

Bryan Gil is another player who has been given a shot to show his credentials in recent weeks, but unlike Bissouma and Lo Celso, the Spaniard hasn’t quite grasped this opportunity in the same way.

Indeed, unfortunately, Gil hasn’t been able to make such a big impression at Tottenham in recent weeks, and speaking on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel, The Mail’s Josh Hughes has now suggested that the Spaniard is likely to leave Spurs at the end of the season.

Gil to leave this summer

Hughes shared his verdict on the £22m man.

“He has his games and there is a lot to like about him, I just think long-term, he is a La Liga player, there’s a reason people rave about him in Spain and he doesn’t get the same reviews in England. Some players are better suited to other leagues, and there’s not much he can do about his genetics. I hope as long as he’s here he does his best, but I think he will probably go in the summer and I hope he does well if he does go,” Hughes said.

Shame

It’s a real shame that Bryan Gil’s Tottenham career may be set to come to an end this summer.

The Spaniard is clearly a talented player, but, sadly, he’s not really got to grips with the Premier League.

Unfortunately, Tottenham have a knack of signing players of this ilk, players with all the natural ability in the world but not the physicality or mentality to make it at this level.

Gil may still have a very good career elsewhere, but, sadly, it looks like his chances of becoming a star at Spurs are over.
