£22m Liverpool-linked midfielder thinks Klopp is 'wonderful' after he called him 'an interesting player'

Liverpool have been linked with Sander Berge, a midfielder who Reds boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly called a “very interesting player”.

Eurosport claim that Liverpool are interested in the Sheffield United midfielder, joining Aston Villa in the race for his services.

Berge has been sidelined for much of the 2020-21 campaign after being forced to go under the knife to correct a hamstring problem.

The Norwegian was an important part of the side that finished in the top half of the table last season, after his £22million move to the Premier League back in January 2020.

This season, Berge managed 13 Premier League outings, but has unfortunately been on the sidelines while United struggle.

In November 2019, Liverpool faced Genk in the Champions League at Anfield and ran out 2-1 winners over Berge’s former side.

Berge impressed for his side, earning the attention of Reds boss Klopp, who offered some kind words to the player after the full-time whistle.

“It was a great moment,” the 23-year-old told VG, translated by the Daily Mail. “You have a big smile when you receive those sorts of compliments.

“It is wonderful when such a renowned manager as Jurgen Klopp comes over and says something like that.”

Klopp was said to have told Berge “you are an interesting player, a very interesting player,” according to VG.

A towering figure at 6ft 3in, Berge’s size gives him a big edge when it comes to protecting the back line as well as winning the ball further up the pitch.

He has shown he has what it takes to shine in the Premier League and certainly looks like a good shout to carry this role out at Liverpool.
