Elfsborg goalkeeper Hakon Valdimarsson has praised Aston Villa amid reports that Unai Emery wants to sign the 22-year-old talent.
The Icelandic international has been linked with a move to Villa Park in recent days with the Premier League title contenders eager to add depth in the goalkeeping position.
Valdimarsson last year established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Scandinavia after playing a key role for Elfsbrog in their failed attempt to win the Swedish title.

And speaking to Aftonbladet, the goalkeeping prospect detailed his thoughts on Villa’s interest in signing him, with Valdimarsson praising Emery’s side amid ongoing speculation.
The 22-year-old youngster said about a potential move this January: “There is interest from many clubs right now. We will see what happens. I’m listening to the alternatives.
“It’s big. They’re [Aston Villa] a top club in the Premier League and they play very well. It’s great to see that they are interested. It shows that I have played well last season.”
Hakon Valdimarsson would be well-suited to Aston Villa

Like many Premier League clubs this January, signings and transfers have been few and far between for Villa, with Emery yet to really dip his toes into the market.
Yet a move for Valdimarsson could change that completely, with the Nordic shot-stopper one of the most exciting goalkeeping prospects in Europe.
And for Villa, Valdimarsson could be an ideal understudy to Emi Martinez, who one day will need replacing despite the Argentine international’s performances at Villa Park.
Indeed, with Valdimarsson potentially available for cheap, Villa should feel confident in getting this signing done, with this transfer one that could benefit the Villians in the long-term.
