22-year-old is now 'dreaming' of joining Tottenham after Paratici holds talks, Romano claims
Fabrizio Romano has said on Matt Hayes’ Youtube channel that Takehiro Tomiyasu is now dreaming of joining Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs have thought to be on the verge of a deal for the Bologna defender for some time, but they still have not pushed a transfer over the line.
Football London now suggest that Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign central defender Cristian Romero from Atalanta, which could have put the deal in some doubt.
But Romano insists that Spurs are still trying to negotiate terms of the potential transfer.
And if Tottenham can agree a fee with Bologna for Tomiyasu then getting the player to sign on should not be an issue, as he ‘dreams’ of making a switch to North London.
“It wasn’t a done deal some days ago. For sure there are negotiations and this is 100% confirmed,” he said. “There is a bid from Tottenham, around 18 million with add-ons included. Bologna want around 20 or 25 million euro, so there’s a gap between the clubs.
‘Tomiyasu wants to join Tottenham. It’s the only option for him as at the moment Arsenal are not in the race.
“The only option in the Premier League I mean and his priority is now Tottenham.
“Let’s see – it’s about the two clubs. They are talking and let’s see if they can find an agreement for Tomiyasu in the next days.
“There are working on it. The player is hoping to join Tottenham as he wants Premier League football, but it’s not done yet.
“I think in the next days we will have a clear situation and Tomiyasu is waiting to hear, because he’s dreaming of joining the Premier League and Tottenham.”
Tomiyasu’s key strength is his versatility, which means that he can play both at right-back and in central defence.
With Tottenham struggling in both positions, the Japanese international could therefore be an appealing option.
Tomiyasu appears to be a target of Tottenham’s new sporting Fabio Paratici.
Paratici has strong contacts in Italy, and many of Spurs’ top targets seem to be coming from Serie A this summer due to his influence on matters.
If Tomiyasu does sign soon it could be two new arrivals in quick succession, as Tottenham also sealed a deal for Pierluigi Gollini, Romano reported last night.
