22-year-old hints he has completed Palace move with Instagram post, after leaving Tottenham this summer
Jack Roles has suggested he has put pen to paper on a contract at Crystal Palace, after leaving Tottenham earlier this summer – posting on Instagram.
Roles, 22, left Tottenham at the beginning of the summer – after spending 16 years at Spurs. He joined the club aged just six, but his contract ended.
Since then, The Athletic said last month that Roles was on trial at London neighbours Palace. The six-time Cyprus U21 star even played for the 23’s.
Featuring in a Premier League 2 defeat to Arsenal earlier this month, Roles scored but failed to prevent the Eagles losing 4-2. But he remained a trialist.
Now, the midfielder has posted on Instagram. He posted a picture of himself in a Palace shirt, tagging Palace in the post, with a pen emoji.
Roles to Palace: U23 Tottenham players react to his post
It is a brilliant move for Roles. Clearly, he has plenty of talent. Proof of that is in the 12 goals he scored for Tottenham’s reserves, in 33 games.
He also spent time on loan at Cambridge United where he netted five goals in 25 – and also went on loan to Burton Albion and Stevenage.
Patrick Vieira has been applauded for his work in the window. So far, Conor Gallagher, Joachim Andersen, Marc Guehi and Michael Olise have come in.
But Palace need depth and bringing in a player who was born in London, and is available for nothing, makes utter sense.
Plenty of Tottenham Under-23 players reacted to Roles suggesting he has joined Palace – as did Sunderland’s Dennis Cirkin.
