Arsenal have spent a week taking in a warm-weather training camp in Dubai, with Mikel Arteta putting his players through their paces during the winter break.

The Gunners return to competitive action on Saturday 20 January, when they host Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League.

Arsenal’s players finished off their warm-weather training campaign in Dubai on Tuesday with a session that was shared by the Gunners media team two days later.

Highlights from the session, as per Arsenal’s official YouTube channel, included an impressive volley by Gabriel Martinelli and a superb save from Karl Hein.

The latter can be seen at two minutes and nine seconds in, and it was a great stop from a header that drew applause from the Gunners coaches.

Hein has been with Arsenal since the summer of 2018, when he joined the Hale End setup from Estonian club Nomme United.

The 21-year-old has risen through the ranks to make the Gunners first team, though he only has one senior appearance to date for the north Londoners.

Hein has also taken in one loan spell while on Arsenal’s books, joining Reading in January 2022.

Although he did well, he sadly had to return to N5 in March after suffering a torn thumb ligament.

Since then, Hein has stayed put at Arsenal, though with his contract running until the summer, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.

Arsenal finally set for return to action after winter break

Arsenal have had an opportunity to rebuild and refocus in wake of a dismal few weeks in which they lost their last three games.

The Gunners will hope to get back to winning ways when they host Roy Hodgson’s Eagles in a 12:30pm kickoff on Saturday.

As per BBC Sport, after a run of just one win in eight Premier League games against Palace from 2018-19 to 2021-22, Arsenal have won their last three games against the Eagles.

The Gunners are currently fourth in the table, while Palace sit 14th in the standings.
