£20m Tottenham player has really helped Heung-Min Son behind the scenes

Heung-Min Son looks like a player reborn at Tottenham Hotspur this season.

The South Korean had a very difficult campaign last season. His goalscoring form tailed off last term, and he struggled with fitness at times as well.

However, he’s come back this year looking like his old self, and according to Alasdair Gold, he’s had some help behind the scenes to get back to this point.

Indeed, speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, the journalist has stated that Rodrigo Bentancur has been a real confidante for Son behind the scenes at Tottenham, apparently pushing him to get back to his best and back fit when he was out injured.

Bentancur helped Son

Gold shared what he knows about the two Spurs stars.

“Sonny was saying himself and people don’t see these sorts of things but apparently when Sonny was out injured, it was Bentancur behind the scenes in the physio room really pushing him on and really making sure he was in the right mental place to get himself back into action and fit again,’ Gold said.

“Obviously, Son had a difficult year last season but he had someone in Bentancur that even off the scenes was proving to be a bit of a leader himself.”

Great to hear

This is fantastic to hear.

Being injured can be incredibly lonely as a footballer, but it sounds like Son and Bentancur really helped each other through this time.

This encouragement seemingly helped Son to no end and he’s come back looking so much better this season, and now, it’s Bentancur’s turn to make that same sort of next step after returning from an injury.

Let’s hope that the £20m midfielder can follow Son’s lead and get back to his best form after a difficult spell on the sidelines.
