£20m player is ‘quite intrigued’ by the idea of signing for Chelsea

A number of teams in the Premier League will be looking for a new striker in the summer.

Indeed, Arsenal need a new striker, and Arsenal are confident about signing Benjamin Sesko, while Chelsea also need a new centre-forward.

Chelsea like Sesko too, but Arsenal may well pip them to the post on that front.

Luckily, Chelsea do have a plan B in mind in that scenario.

Indeed, according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on Market Madness, Chelsea are likely to move for Liam Delap if Sesko ends up at Arsenal.

Delap has been linked with Chelsea recently, and according to Jacobs, the £20m man is intrigued by the idea of signing for Chelsea.

Liam Delap intrigued by Chelsea move

Jacobs shared some insight into the striker market this summer.

The pundit said that Arsenal want Sesko, while Chelsea could move for Delap instead.

Meanwhile, Jacobs also said that Viktor Gyokeres would be an expensive option for Manchester United.

“If Arsenal get Sesko, Chelsea then likely would move for Liam Delap. And then we wait and see whether Manchester United, who also appreciate Delap, can influence that situation. Of course, Manchester United fans being greedy and not thinking about finances will say, we’ll just get Victor Gyokeres because Ruben Amorim likes him, but that’s a 70 million outlay,” Jacobs said.

“And Delap, I think, is also quite intrigued by the Chelsea project, especially knowing that if he’s the number nine that comes in, he may stand a very strong chance of supplanting or at least competing with Nicolas Jackson, who, we must stress, Chelsea do still have big faith in. So Chelsea and Delap is one to watch.”

Liam Delap record under Enzo Maresca

The striker is intrigued by the idea of signing for Chelsea, and it’s not hard to understand why.

Indeed, Delap knows Enzo Maresca well from his time at Manchester City.

Maresca was Delap’s manager in the youth set-up at City, and to say that these two gelled well together would be an understatement.

Delap had an utterly ridiculous goalscoring record under Maresca.

Of course, youth football is very different to senior football, but, Delap has shown this season too that he knows how to find the back of the net in the Premier League.

This is a signing that makes a lot of sense for all parties for a number of reasons, and it will be interesting to see if Chelsea do make a move for Delap this summer.
