One Arsenal player is surely feeling concerned by rumours now emerging from the Emirates Stadium.
Speculation regarding Bologna No.33 Riccardo Calafiori signing for Arsenal is now intensifying, with the reliable Fabrizio Romano claiming that Mikel Arteta has approved a £42m move for the Italian.
As those rumours heat up, Arsenal No.15 Jakub Kiwior might be feeling a bit worried…
Why Jakub Kiwior will be concerned
In our view, Calafiori’s arrival at the Emirates Stadium could spell the end for the Poland international in north London.
The aforementioned Romano has already claimed earlier this summer that Arsenal could sell Kiwior after he only made 11 Premier League starts last season.
Since the 2023/24 campaign ended, Jurrien Timber has also returned to action, so if Calafiori is signed by Arteta to bolster the backline further, we cannot see where the Pole would fit in.
Whether that means Arsenal could look to sell Kiwior – Antonio Conte’s Napoli are said to be keen as well as Juventus – or instead loan him out, we would expect the £20m man from Tychy to be feeling quite anxious about his chances of playing time amid talk of Calafiori moving to north London.

Tancredi Palmeri has even claimed that Arsenal will sign the Italy international after winning the race to secure his signature, an update which will presumably have Kiwior banging on Arteta’s door at London Colney.
Arsenal should loan the Poland international out
In our view, given the fact Kiwior is still only 24 years of age, we think a loan exit would make the most sense if Calafiori does join Arsenal.
There is every chance that Timber could suffer an injury setback next season, while Oleksandr Zinchenko may leave amid interest from Bayern Munich.

Therefore, Arteta could find himself quite light on defensive options in the 2024/25 campaign if Arsenal suffer misfortune, so it would be wise to have the option to recall Kiwior if need be.

Then, should the Arsenal No.15 perform well on loan, Arsenal can look for a permanent sale next summer, if Timber proves his fitness on a long-term basis and Calafiori settles in as expected.
