Back in summer 2018 and ahead of the January 2019 transfer window, Everton were linked with Tom Pearce. According to the print edition of The Sun via HITC, Everton were preparing to battle Bournemouth for Pearce’s signature.
Leeds United managed to keep hold of Pearce, who burst onto the scene in the final five games of the 2017/18 season. But he found the 2018/19 campaign a bit harder.
The 21-year-old fell down the pecking order under Marcelo Bielsa. After just five games, he was sent out on loan to League One side Scunthorpe United in January.
While with Scunthorpe, the young left-back made nine appearances. He scored one goal but he could not prevent the Iron from relegation.

Now he has returned to Leeds but his future is unclear. According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds are ready to let him leave permanently this summer.
Pearce’s availability could prompt Everton into action. The England U20 international came through the ranks at Everton before his move to Leeds and they reportedly want him back.
But it is time to aim higher than Pearce. Even though Everton need a left-back to provide cover for Lucas Digne (with Leighton Baines’ career coming to an end), Pearce is not the answer.
Antonee Robinson is a better choice or Everton might look to sign another player. But Pearce has not done enough to convince Everton to rekindle their 2018 interest.
