20-year-old Tottenham youngster was included in Antonio Conte's match day squad for friendly yesterday
Tottenham Hotspur youngster Marqes Muir was included in Antonio Conte’s matchday squad for yesterday’s friendly against Peterborough United U21’s.
Spurs are continuing to prepare for the return of the Premier League and have been involved in two friendlies over the past week.
Conte’s men beat Scottish outfit Motherwell 4-0 last Friday and continued their form into yesterday’s behind closed doors friendly.
Tottenham beat Posh’s U21 side 3-1 yesterday after goals from Harvey White and Bryan Gil in the first-half. Matt Doherty continued his mid-season scoring streak and rounded off the win in the second-half.
With several Spurs stars returning from the World Cup over the next week, Conte has had a chance to look at some of the talents coming through the academy at Hotspur Way. And 20-year-old prospect Muir was named in yesterday’s matchday squad.
Muir included in Conte’s matchday squad
Tottenham posted an official match report on their website, while Peterborough posted a gallery that included some pictures from yesterday’s win.
Muir was spotted sitting amongst the substitutes, alongside the likes of Alfie Devine.
The English youngster is yet to make his debut for Spurs but has racked up a total of 72 appearances for their youth sides.
He’s been ever present for the U21’s side this season and has made a total of 11 appearances in the Premier League 2.
Spurs’ match report doesn’t state that Muir featured in yesterday’s game but the youngster will only benefit from being around the first-team set-up.
Conte faces one more friendly before the return of the Premier League on Boxing Day. Spurs are set to host French outfit Nice next Wednesday, then their focus will turn to a tough test against Brentford.
Muir will be hoping to be involved in the matchday squad once again next week as it remains unclear whether Tottenham’s World Cup stars will feature.
