West Ham are reportedly closing in on the signing of Silkeborg’s young defender Frederik Alves Ibsen for a bargain £1.2million – and the player himself has just hinted that he is on his way to the London Stadium, with his latest Instagram activity.

Ibsen, 20, has seemingly caught the attention of admiring onlookers from West Ham for his performances in Silkeborg’s senior side. He has already clocked up an impressive 48 first-team outings for Silkeborg, and is now considered first choice.

The Denmark under-21 international has also played 16 times in Denmark’s top tier, but the club were relegated last season. Now, it appears West Ham are close to signing Ibsen – but due to the window being shut, a deal will go through in January.

That is according to Danish website Bold, who state that the Hammers will be acquiring the 6ft 3in talent for a bargain fee of just £1.2million. A potential move for Ibsen will be the second centre-back signing the club make in the space of a week.

Indeed, the Hammers finally solved their immediate defensive issues with the loan-to-buy addition of Craig Dawson from Watford. They remain in the hunt for Brentford’s Said Benrahma, Bournemouth’s Josh King and others.

But a move for Ibsen now looks set to go through and the defender’s decision to follow West Ham on Instagram, certainly hints that a potential deal is likely to occur sooner, rather than later.
