Newcastle United stretched their unbeaten run to six matches as they beat Everton 1-0 on Wednesday night.

Miguel Almiron was the hero for the Magpies, curling home a superb effort from outside the box in the first half.

The Newcastle star is bursting with confidence at present, taking his tally to five goals for the season.

Plenty of other Magpies players impressed on the night too, with Fabian Schar delivering another standout display.

The 30-year-old ran himself into the ground against Manchester United at the weekend.

And he very much picked up from where he left off against Frank Lampard’s side.

As per Whoscored, Schar won five aerial duels in the match.

He also weighed in with two tackles, one interception and two clearances.

In addition, the £47,000-a-week ace made the most passes out of any Newcastle player on the night.

Schar was a threat at the other end of the pitch too, with two efforts on target.

And last but not least, the way he stood up for Kieran Trippier against Anthony Gordon was great to see (if you’re a Newcastle fan).

Newcastle have now kept five clean sheets this season and have only conceded more than once in a game twice this season (against Liverpool and Manchester City).

Schar has been a key part of this solid defence, and as such he deserves praise.

He is very much an unsung hero for Howe so far this season and hopefully he can help Newcastle achieve glory in the coming months.
