Tottenham are keen on Osijek goalkeeper Marko Malencia ahead of this summer’s transfer window, according to the Sunday People, 14/04, page 55.
The goalkeeping situation at the club has been slightly uncertain this season with Hugo Lloris struggling for form and having off-field issues as well.
And while Mauricio Pochettino has stuck with the France captain throughout this season, he is now reportedly eyeing the Croatian stopper.
In keeping with Spurs’ emphasis on bargains and value for money, the report says that Malencia could be available for just £1m.
The report also says that Lloris is likely to leave this summer – although there is no information on his potential destination.
And it would be a big ask for the 25-year-old to come in and take over the goalkeeping mantle but it’s clear that Spurs do need a long-term solution between the sticks.
Lloris just has a mistake in him these days and with his advancing years likely to impact how much money Spurs can recoup if they offload him, the time might be right to make a switch.
Getting a player for the first team for around £1m is almost unheard of for a top Premier League side in this day and age, and given the goalkeeping market exploded last summer with Kepa and Alisson, it would represent a huge bargain.
