Connor Teale has posted on Instagram after it was confirmed that the teenage defender had left Leeds United to join League One side Fleetwood Town ahead of the summer window – in a move that sees Simon Grayson swoop.

Teale, 18, was a regular in the Leeds Under-18 side this season and even appeared on the Under-23 bench for Mark Jackson’s side during a 7-0 defeat to Accrington Stanley in the EFL Trophy. He played nine times for the 18’s.

The young centre-back has now decided to leave Leeds with plenty of competition ahead of him in the middle of the defence, and decided to chance his arm in the third tier of English football instead – under Grayson.

He has signed a contract with the Trawlermen until the summer of 2023 – but Fleetwood have included an option to extend that contract by a further season. Teale took to Instagram to confirm he has left Leeds on a permanent basis.

Though he never made his debut for the Under-23 side, he trained with Jackson’s side on numerous occasions. However, with Olly Casey, Charlie Cresswell and Nohan Kenneh as options in the 23’s, his pathway was blocked.

Plenty of Leeds United’s promotion-winning Under-23 side reacted to Teale’s Instagram post including the likes of Kenneh, Stuart McKinstry and more – as well as out-on-loan striker Ryan Edmondson.
