Arsenal have now called up an exciting youngster into first team training ahead of their crucial tie with Manchester City on Sunday.

Although a lot of Mikel Arteta’s senior squad are away with their countries right now, the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe have all remained at London Colney.

Arteta and his coaches will have been able to make some progress with the players mentioned above in terms of their Man City prep, with Jesus perhaps being prepared for a starting role.

That being said, team selection will depend on the condition of Arsenal’s internationals once they return to the club, with everyone keeping their fingers crossed for no injuries.

Fans will have been pleased to see William Saiba receive a chance for France, a rare opportunity for the centre-back in what really is a peculiar situation.

Despite being one of the most imperious centre-backs in the Premier League, Didier Deschamps seems to have considerable concerns about the Arsenal man.

And whilst a centre-back partnership of Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes doesn’t need to be touched this summer, perhaps more numbers do need to be added in the transfer market.

Arsenal youngster Ayden Heaven called up to first team training ahead of Man City

But having been involved in training ahead of Man City, Arsenal youngster Ayden Heaven may say otherwise.

17-year-old Heaven was spotted in a series of photos that Arsenal uploaded to X yesterday, working hard ahead of club football returning.

And it’s certainly not the first time that Heaven has been involved.

The versatile defender has been really impressive for the PL2 side this season, and perhaps he’s now not too far away from being mentioned in the same breath as Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly as one of the club’s best young assets.

Heaven has received a ton of plaudits from people close to the Arsenal youth team, and it seems that progress is now being recognised with all these first team chances.

Perhaps Heaven is just making the numbers up for Arsenal ahead of Man City, but he’s evidently doing something right.

And Arsenal fans would surely love to see a defender promoted from the Hale End academy in the near future, something that hasn’t happened in a long time.

That being said, Arsenal seem to be showing intent to sign a young defender to immediately improve their squad this summer.
