Manchester United round-up: Bid imminent for midfielder; Barcelona ace linked; Martial rejects exit

Manchester United could be preparing themselves for a bid for midfielder Marouane Fellaini from Italian giants Juventus if they miss out on number one target Blaise Matuidi, according to The Sun. The bid could be worth a figure around £22.5 million for the Belgian and may force United to consider his future.

Jose Mourinho has spoken out to insist that Fellaini still has a role to play at Old Trafford despite the arrival of Nemanja Matic. That would seemingly put him at least fourth in the pecking order in midfield behind the likes of Matic, Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera, and United may look to cash in as a result.

They may look to reinvest the money in a player like Barcelona’s Arda Turan. Spanish newspaper AS say that the Turkey international’s agent is desperately seeking an exit from the Camp Nou and Manchester United is a potential destination given the presence of Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho is reportedly a long term admirer of Turan and would not be put off by the fact that he has failed to impress since moving to Catalonia. Manchester United could look to complete a move for him and could be in contact with Barcelona to see at just what price they would part with the unwanted midfielder.

However, a move could also be dependent on the future of Anthony Martial. Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri has taken to Twitter to reveal that the forward has rejected a move to Inter Milan as he is keen to remain in the Premier League even if he leaves Old Trafford this summer.

Martial was a substitute against West Ham at the weekend and came on to score a late goal for the Red Devils. If an appropriate offer is incoming then it could turn out to be his last goal in United colours, though it is hard to imagine United being keen to sell him to a Premier League rival.
