West Ham United have been linked with Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe in recent days.

The Hammers have been monitoring the 20-year-old winger, according to the Evening Standard.

West Ham may well have been monitoring Rowe in Championship action on Friday night. If they did, surely they’ll have liked what they saw.

The Canaries ran out 2-1 winners away at Hull City, with the reported Hammers target opening the scoring in some style.

In the 36th minute, Rowe pounced on a loose ball in the middle of the park before embarking on a solo run and getting past a number of defenders before firing home from the edge of the box.

Sky Sports shared footage of the video on their X account, inviting people to “stop what you are doing and watch this sensational finish from Jonathan Rowe”.

West Ham currently have a personnel crisis in attack, with four key Hammers players all unavailable at present.

Michail Antonio is out for up to six weeks with a knee injury, while Jarrod Bowen is sidelined for at least a fortnight with an ankle issue.

In addition, Lucas Paqueta could be out for two months with a calf injury and Mohammed Kudus is at the Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana.

With that in mind, West Ham have reportedly revised their January transfer window plans, with frontline reinforcements now a priority.

While Rowe is a top talent, the Hammers will have their work cut out trying to sign him from a club fighting for promotion.

Norwich reportedly rejected a £15million bid from Wolves for Rowe in the summer. It proved a good call, with the player already on 12 goals and three assists for the season.

If they were willing to reject a pretty big bid from a Premier League club in the summer window, they’ll surely reject a mid-season bid when they have the chance to be in the top flight themselves next term.
