Arsenal could well look to bring in a new central defender in January or next summer as Unai Emery builds his squad for the long-term future.
In Shkodran Mustafi, Rob Holding and Sokratis Papastathopoulos, he has three decent options but he needs to look to the future.
Holding is growing more comfortable at the back with each game he plays but Emery might look to upgrade on Mustafi.
And Sokratis is in his 30s so the Gunners might be in the market for a replacement soon.
According to The Sun, Arsenal have identified Brentford starlet Ezri Konsa as a potential new addition.
The North London outfit could bid £15m for the youngster in the January transfer window.
Konsa is an exciting young option and he has the potential to go to the very top of the game.
The England under-21 international moved from Charlton Athletic to Brentford in the summer and has made the step up to the Championship with aplomb.
The ball-playing defender suits Arsenal’s style of play perfectly with his ability to carry the ball out of defence, pick passes and remain composed.
Konsa can also play as a holding midfielder and has filled in at right-back too, making him a versatile option for Emery.
The 21-year-old is one of England’s brightest defensive prospects and a partnership with Holding could be the long-term answer for the Gunners.
