Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of potential midfield signings this month.
The likes of Conor Gallagher and Hayden Hackney have been linked with a move to Spurs, while Adam Wharton is another player Tottenham are said to be keen on.
Indeed, the young Blackburn star has been linked with Spurs in recent weeks, but, unfortunately, this one doesn’t seem likely to happen in the near future.
Speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Wharton’s links to Tottenham, and he says that sources have told him that this one isn’t likely to happen.

Wharton unlikely to join
Jacobs shared what he knows about the youngster.
“Speaking to sources, I don’t think Adam Wharton will happen, Crystal Palace are more active as it stands and he’s a lot more expensive than a player like Buck. The fee could be as high as £15m, at least £10m with add-ons, there’s no doubt Spurs have looked but they will have to catch up with where Crystal Palace are currently,” Jacobs said.
For the best
As much as a move to Tottenham would be fantastic in a lot of ways, the fact that Wharton probably won’t be joining Spurs this month may be for the best.
Indeed, as a 19-year-old, Wharton’s next move needs to be to a Premier League club where he’ll get regular minutes, and, unfortunately, there’s no guarantee of that at Tottenham.
The best thing for Wharton’s development may be for him to join a mid-table club where he’ll play every week, and that points towards a team like Palace being perfect for him at this moment in time.
Wharton may well end up at a club like Spurs eventually once he’s a bit more developed, but, for now, his best bet is to make a smaller step which will be less of a shock to the system.
