Arsenal have plenty of business to tend to this summer.
The Gunners need to sign a new striker and a new midfielder, but perhaps their most important piece of business concerns their manager.
Indeed, Mikel Arteta is entering the final year of his contract, and the north London club need to tie the Spaniard down to secure his long-term future.
Luckily, it sounds as though Arsenal have done just that.
Speaking on KS1TV, Steve Kay has claimed that Mikel Arteta’s contract extension has been agreed and that the Arsenal hierarchy want to announce this news as soon as possible.

Mikel Arteta has signed new contract
Kay claimed that Arteta has signed his new deal that will eclipse his current £158k-a-week contract.
“Yeah that’s what I’ve been told. Fabrizio Romano said they hadn’t spoken yet, but that’s absolute nonsense because I knew they had been,” Kay said.
“It’s all been done. He’s agreed it. I’ve been told it’s another three year contract. Up there with the highest paid managers in the Premier League and the Arsenal hierarchy want to announce it ASAP. It has been done, Arteta has agreed to sign it.
“It’s been done, it’s been penned, it’s done, he’s going to be here for the long-term.
Arsenal’s most important business
Regardless of what Arsenal do this summer, this could well prove to be their most important piece of business
Make no mistake about it, Mikel Arteta is the most important figure at Arsenal, he’s completely transformed this club in recent years and if Arsenal are going to continue to improve as a team, they need their manager to steer the ship in the right direction.
Arsenal may make some box office signings this summer, but, in the long-term, Arteta’s new deal may be seen as the best bit of business Arsenal do all year long.
