£15.5m profit might see Daniel Levy consider Christian Eriksen sale a success

The latest reports out of Spain are that Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur might be doing business in January regarding Christian Eriksen. MARCA is reporting that Daniel Levy is looking to offload the Dane whilst Diario AS is suggesting he has slashed his asking price for the 27-year-old.

With Eriksen’s contract expiring in the summer, Tottenham are now willing to sell for as low as €30 million (£27 million).

Considering that Tottenham were previously said to be quoting world record fees for Eriksen’s services that looks like a huge wasted financial opportunity for Tottenham.

However, others, perhaps even Levy, might consider it a success in regards to Eriksen as a commodity.

Tottenham snapped up Eriksen as part of their post-Gareth Bale to Real Madrid spending spree. However, whilst huge sums were spent on Paulinho and Roberto Soldado, Tottenham got a bargain with Eriksen.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Tottenham paid Ajax just £11.5 million for Eriksen in August 2013. Compared to the failures that were Paulinho and Soldado, not to mention the likes of Vlad Chiriches and Etienne Capoue, who also joined that summer, it proved a bargain piece of business.

So there is no doubt some people might be able to justify the fact Tottenham might sell him for a £15.5 million profit.

But considering AS suggested Tottenham wanted over £200 million for him as recently as January, that might be a hard sale.
