VfL Wolfsburg defender Sebastiaan Bornauw has been speaking to Het Nieuwsblad about his hectic summer, after moving from FC Köln.
The 22-year-old revealed that he held talks with Crystal Palace and Norwich about a move to the Premier League.
However, Bornauw eventually joined Champions League outfit VfL Wolfsburg in a €17m (£14.6m) deal, after his goal helped save FC Köln from relegation.
What did Sebastiaan Bornauw say?
Speaking to Het Nieuwsblad, the centre-back said: “I also spoke to English clubs Crystal Palace and Norwich, and one day I want to play in the Premier League. But when Wolfsburg knocked on the door, I was immediately won over by their project.”
We don’t blame the 2-cap Belgium international for choosing VfL Wolfsburg, who can offer him the chance to play at the highest level.
Crystal Palace seem to have an exciting project under Patrick Vieira.

However, it’s not exciting enough to get players to reject Champions League football to come to south London, in all honesty.
Crystal Palace might sign Sebastiaan Bornauw in future
As you can see, Bornauw leaves the door open for a move to Selhurst Park in the future by admitting he’d like to play in the Premier League.
At just 22, it would be foolish to think his and Crystal Palace’s paths won’t cross again.
The only danger for the Eagles now is that Bornauw shines in the Champions League, which would alert much bigger clubs to his talents.

Vieira will hope that doesn’t happen, as the south Londoners surely wouldn’t be able to compete.
Luckily, Bornauw’s decision didn’t disrupt Crystal Palace’s summer.
In Joachim Andersen and Marc Guéhi, the Eagles found two excellent centre-backs who have already made a great start to their careers at Selhurst Park.
