133 touches, 2 key passes, 5 shots: 25-year-old Celtic ace impressed alongside McGregor v Aberdeen
Celtic maintained their nine-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership thanks to Saturday’s 1-0 win over Aberdeen.
The Hoops dominated the Dons throughout the game, but were unable to find the breakthrough until late on.
In the 87th minute, the returning Callum McGregor fired home from the edge of the box to give Celtic all three points.
The captain’s goal was the Bhoys’ 200th goal under Ange Postecoglou and the 31st Celtic attempt of the game.
McGregor provided a moment of class and composure in a match where the Hoops were largely wasteful.
While the Celtic captain stood out among his peers, there were other Bhoys players who emerged with credit.
‘A brilliant transformation’
Greg Taylor was one of those, clocking up some impressive stats and some good reviews from the media.
As per Whoscored, the 25-year-old took 133 touches of the ball and made 107 passes, two of which were key passes
Indeed, Taylor’s run helped pull two Aberdeen players away and created the space for McGregor’s shot.
Taylor also weighed in with two tackles, an interception, four crosses and four long balls.
Glasgow Live gave him 6 out of 10 amid high written praise.
‘Arguably Celtic’s player of the year to date,’ they wrote.
‘A brilliant transformation to his game. Again, another good performance. Full of running.’
Meanwhile, The Scotsman gave Taylor a 7 out of 10 for his efforts on the day.
‘Never troubled defensively and charged forward to support the forward line,’ they wrote.
‘Came close with a flashed effort across goal in the second half.’
Taylor has arguably been Celtic’s top player in the first half of the season, and he continues to do well.
The Hoops are next in action on Wednesday, hosting Livingston at Parkhead.
They then play one more game before Christmas, hosting St Johnstone on Christmas Eve.
