Liverpool have been linked with one of the most exciting young midfielders in Europe in recent times.

Indeed, Assan Ouedraogo is said to be a player Liverpool are keen on, but, unfortunately, this deal dwon’t be easy.

Despite Ouedraogo’s relatively cheap £12m release clause, Liverpool may struggle to get this deal done.

Indeed, speaking on the FC Bayern Insider Podcast, Tobi Altschaffl has been discussing Ouedraogo’s future, and the journalist says that he’s been told by the player’s family that he’s waiting to sign for Bayern Munich rather than aiming to move to England.

Assan Ouedraogo wants to join Bayern Munich

Altshcaffl shared what he’s been told about Ouedraogo firectly from his family.

“We know from the Ouedraogo family that they have been waiting for Bayern for a long time. They have blocked all other offers because they are hoping for Bayern.

“He costs a few million and that’s apparently not worth it for Bayern.”

Bayern Munich move makes sense

It’s hard to blame Ouedraogo for wanting to join Bayern Munich.

As a young German player, a move to the Allianz Arena makes so much sense.

Ever since we can remember almost every elite German player has found their way to Bayern Munich at some point or another, and Ouedraogo is hoping to become that sort of player in the future.

Of course, at the age of just 18, Ouedraogo shouldn’t be trying to run before he can walk, but after seeing Bayern do such fantastic work developing young players like Jamal Musiala in recent years, he would be heading to Munich with the knowledge that he’d be in good hands.

However, as Altschaffl says, Bayern don’t currently feel that the midfielder is worth it, and perhaps the door is still open for Liverpool to get this deal done.
